黃秋生的演技層次和技法完美昇華

每當我們評論香港電影演員演技的時候,都會出現好些爭議性的問題,其中演員的明星魅力及其形象發揮的光芒,與好些憑演技表現出眾的演員,好些時都很難放在同一個平台上討論,記憶中當年《重慶森林》的王菲和《紅玫瑰白玫瑰》的陳沖便是一個極佳的例子,到底我們純以演技的表現來評定其優劣,還是以其魅力及形象在影片中發揮超凡風采來定奪呢?

這種情況在香港電影中,經常出現,這與香港電影製作環境有著極密切的關係。現時大部分的電影演員都並非由演藝學校或相關訓練學校出身,他們都以實戰演戲訓練及憑其演戲天份發展出來,其中電視劇集的演出對他們起了重要的影響。




《無間道》巧妙場面經營的示範佳作

《無間道》在芸芸部門配合下所見的成績,除了演員的演技出色外,另外亦以個別場面的設計較為突出,故此也易於烙進人心之中。

其中有幾場都值得拿出來作賞析,依次先為黃秋生第一次於天台上見梁朝偉一幕(11:10至13:18),導演刻意用迴避目光的方法,來處理兩人的感情交流;也借此帶出當中不見得光的糾結──梁朝偉心中當了九年臥底的怨懟,以及黃秋生對他的愧疚。事實上,在場面的設計上,鏡頭捕捉兩人的對話,都有一個特色:就是每當向對方說話時,後者的目光都會迴避說話人,形成視線上的錯位。唯一有兩個鏡頭呈現了兩人的正視,但都以爭辯對抗的吵架氣氛告終,暗中帶出實話實說的相交方法已行不通。




《無間道》蛻變出港式警匪片的新路向

《無間道》大膽地把臥底警匪片的陳套框架,從充滿火爆動作的類型中,蛻變成捉智雙雄式格局;把睇慣睇熟的蠱惑仔打交檔次,一躍而成恍如專業級音響的比試。黃秋生捨身成仁,是說英雄誰是英雄的真戰場;梁朝偉三年又三年的無休止奮鬥,也具備了金雞不倒的頑強鬥志。所以說,精人出口,要戰勝別人,不一定要埋身肉博,正如秦始王一站起來,豪氣已勝任何武林高手。片中梁朝偉說得真沒錯:「你聽下,啲聲幾浮。」《無間道》成為港產片及香港高官都爭相認同的驕傲,這份期待以久的「虛榮感」,已經遠遠超過電影本身。




《無間道》的黑白臥底人物塑造──突破既定道德觀

《無間道》整部電影的橋段,雖然仍然不脫港產警匪片及臥底的格局,但它對各人物的造型,以及情節的布局,的確比同類電影略勝一籌,尤其對黑白兩道界線的含糊,帶出了一個發人深省的質疑。

劉德華飾演的劉建明,和梁朝偉所演的陳永仁這對黑白臥底,標誌著雙生兄弟般的同質與迥異。兩者同樣是臥底,則注定要不斷徘徊偽裝角色和真實角色中。電影的整體推動力正是由兩者作為警察/臥底,忠/奸甚至牽連警司/大佬幾種對立層面的鬥智角力。劉冷峻的外表及處事不驚的態度,使觀眾到最後還搞不清,他到底符不符合警匪模式中的白/忠/正的行為。




Love for All Seasons - Yet Again a Male-centric Love Story

Though shot in location in the scenic Mount Emei in Chengtu, with typically Hong Kong story and farce, a universal love plot-line, some auspiciously named kungfu moves and a happy ending, Love for All Seasons is very much a film formulated for the Chinese New Year holiday. Just as in Wu Yen, Johnnie To Kei-fung again stoops to conquer. Both starring the box-office queen Sammi Cheng, this time there is the addition of the hot hunk Louis Koo, and the audience of course expect nothing less than a romantic love story for a temporary relief from the gloomy reality.



Twins for the Hard Times

It can be said that actresses rule 2002. Miriam Yeung, with her infectious laughs, successfully replaces Sammi Cheng as the new OL projection on screen. The Twins duo, Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung, have each starred in If U Care (Gillian Chung) and My Wife is 18 (Charlene Choi), and together in Summer Breeze of Love and Just One Look. Among them, My Wife is 18 and in Summer Breeze of Love were box office hits.



Demi-Haunted - Demi Fulfilled and Semi Balanced

The opening is rich in promises. The title announces it to be a horror film, which is in vogue this year. As the screaming from Eason Chan turns out to be caused by a stepped-on hand, we know that it is also a comedy that uses seemingly horror scenes for unexpected comic effects. Then Joey Yung makes her entrance and plays a wen su sheng (male lead in Cantonese opera) who, for love, switches to hua dan (female lead) and dies in an accident. Her ghost wants to use the transmigrated Chan for her unfinished business. At that point it also appears to be a love story of predestinated love.



Just One Look - Idol Pot Pourri

The setting provides Just One Look its two distinctive flavours. First, taking place in the 60s and 70s, it allows not a few plays on the Mandarin, Cantonese and Western movie trends of the time and dressing the characters in nostalgic costumes. Secondly, the locale is Cheung Chau and, in the living details, reminisces on the adolescent ups and downs, father-son love, the cinema, friendship, and of course, the bittersweet first love. It indeed has everything for every age group (those long in the tooth come for the 70s nostalgia, and the teens for Twins and Shawn Yu Man-lok.)



If You Care's Prescription on Revitalizing Hong Kong

By its title (the Chinese title actually means Mr Cheap), it is easy to take it as one of those catering to the greatest denominator, Wong Jing type of picking girls movie. Whether you go, or refuse to go, into the cinema with this notion in mind, you will be greatly surprised - the movie ends up as a inspiring movie and more! It is also an introspective and redemption movie on our common character and culture!
